The exhibition curated by ADI

The exhibition "ADI DESIGN MUSEUM IN TUSCANY - 1300 km of design", curated by ADI Tuscany Delegation, brought to the attention of the visitors of Florence Biennale some of the excellence of Made in Italy. Each of the 13 territorial delegations that make up the ADI - Association for Industrial Design - was represented through the story and the exhibition of a product entered in the Historical Collection Compasso d'Oro through its Award, which since 1954 represents a consolidated and authoritative unit of measurement of the quality of the Italian design system. The products in the Collection are recognized as cultural assets "of exceptional artistic and historical interest" by the Ministry. The exhibition, which dedicates a special focus to Tuscan design, is therefore an expression of a widespread museum that highlights the vitality of the country's production chains and a place of narration of the ADI Design Museum, inaugurated last May in Milan, where the CdO Permanent Collection is the backbone of a generative system of temporary exhibitions that lead the general public to better understand the true meaning and value of the Italian design system.

Founded in 1956 ADI, the Association for Industrial Design, brings together and represents the leading players in the Italian design system, and is the driving force behind the development of industrial design as a cultural and economic phenomenon. ADI promotes and enhances culturally aware design, supporting and acting an interpreter of a value system and a design culture that places humans at the centre of its work in terms of production, distribution and consumption. Since 1958 ADI has been promoting, organizing and managing the Compasso d'Oro Award, the world’s oldest and longest standing example of recognition in the design sector.

1300 km of design Made in Italy

Through the work of 13 territorial delegations, ADI traces a mapping of the Italian design system, its evolution, skills and production specificity expressed by each territory of our country. The delegations promote relationships and initiatives with institutions, administrations and institutional structures in their respective regional or multi-regional territories, enhancing the production that sees man and his well-being at the center of every design process and therefore a culture of design that is research, deepening, experimentation of new processes, materials, lines, productions and studies.

ADI Design Museum - Compasso d’Oro

The ADI Design Museum is a new kind of museum: open, proactive and inclusive. It is a central and focal point dedicated to the Compasso d'Oro Collection. As such it is the mainstay of a narrative systemin continuous evolution and able to host temporary in-depth exhibitions and transversal initiatives with a popular impact. The ADI Design Museum was designed to be a beacon of contemporaneity and research, focused on playing an active role within the international museum and cultural network and establishing and promoting connections between the world of design and its manufacturing and production systems, and the worlds of architecture, science, technology, fashion, and creativity in general.
