The XIV edition of the Florence Biennale - International Exhibition of Contemporary Art and Design will be held from 14 to 22 October 2023 at the Spadolini Pavilion and the Cavaniglia Pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. The event takes place under the patronage of national and international public institutions and is supported by numerous sponsors and partners.
The days of the Florence Biennale are characterised by a rich programme of events, performances, workshops, talks and the presence of guests of honour.
The event once again brings together artists and designers from all over the world, who can dialogue with the theme chosen for this edition: I AM YOU - Individual and Collective Identities in Contemporary Art and Design.
Moreover, after the success of last year's edition, the International Open Call Competition organised together with Art Market Magazine and Lens Magazine is renewed again this year with the aim of identifying the images used for the integrated communication of the XIV Florence Biennale.
All the works in the exhibition compete for the assignment of the "Lorenzo il Magnifico" International Award for Art in the categories of Ceramic Art, Drawing, Calligraphy and Printmaking, Installation Art, Jewellery Art, Mixed Media, New Media Art, Painting, Performance Art, Photography, Sculpture, Textile & Fiber Art, Video Art and the "Leonardo da Vinci" International Award for Design in the categories of Architecture and Town Design, Industrial and Product Design, Fashion and Jewellery Design, Interior Design, Communication and Graphic Design, Technology and Game Design. The International Jury evaluates the works of artists and designers during the days of the exhibition and confers the awards at the Awards Ceremony (Sunday 22 October 2023).
The Lifetime Achievement Awardees of the XIV Florence Biennale 2023 are the world-renowned American photographer and film-maker David LaChapelle and the Spanish architect, artist and engineer Santiago Calatrava, who will attend the event to receive the award, give a speech, and exhibit their works.
