Florence Biennale | Young Future

On the occasion of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and China, the Florence Biennale (International Biennial of Contemporary Art and Design in Florence) has entered into a partnership with Oriental Star International Youth Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition for the realization of the project titled ”Florence Biennale – Young Future“, which includes the exhibition of the works of 50 Chinese students and 50 Italian students, aged between 14 and 18, at the XIII Florence Biennale, which will be held from 23 to 31 October 2021 at the Fortezza da Basso, under the high patronage of the European Parliament.

Oriental Star

 

The activities of “Oriental Star – International Youth Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition” (selection and exhibition) are supported by the Art Working Committee for Oriental Youth of the China International Painting and Calligraphy Art Research Association and by the Institute of Social Aesthetic Education of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.

Florence Biennale

 

The Florence Biennale is considered as one of the most important contemporary art and design events at an international level. Already included in the United Nations program “Dialogue between civilizations” in 2001 and sponsored by numerous Italian and international public bodies, the Florence Biennale promotes the development of intercultural dialogue, as well as respect and tolerance between peoples through art and culture in their many forms, in order to guarantee a sustainable future.

Italian art schools interested in the initiative, which is implemented without participation costs for schools or students, are invited to:

1. contact the head of educational projects Dr. Giovanni Cordoni at youngfuture@florencebiennale.org to receive the application form and more information;
2. send the application form, within the times and in the manner indicated below.

Participation

 

Interested schools or teachers are requested to send the application form by May 15, 2020 to youngfuture@florencebiennale.org.

By July 15, 2021, each teacher or contact person of the participating artistic high school must send, via wetransfer (https://wetransfer.com/) or Google Drive, the images of the works of their students (jpg, png or tiff format, in high resolution ) at the same address: youngfuture@florencebiennale.org.

The curatorial committee of the XIII Florence Biennale will select the 50 best works at national level, which will be exhibited together with the 50 best works by Chinese students.

Theme and Curatorial Committee

 

The (recommended) theme is friendship and peace between peoples. The curatorial committee of the XIII Florence Biennale is made up of Pasquale Celona (president and founder), Piero Celona (vice-president and founder), Jacopo Celona (director), Giovanni Cordoni (event manager and head of educational projects), Fortunato D’Amico ( curator) and Loredana Trestin (curator).

Maximum size of the works

 

The works presented cannot exceed the following limits (possible frame included) 80 cm wide x 190 cm high x 40 cm deep. Each work must be prepared for the accrochage, which will be carried out with hooks and chains.

Public presentation of the project

 

The project will be announced through a press release disseminated nationally and internationally, published in the official catalog of the XIII Florence Biennale 2021 and presented at the Theater Area of ​​the XIII Florence Biennale (Fortezza da Basso) on Tuesday 26 October 2021.
