Petrocchi/Berlinghieri Art Contest 2022/2023
'Living for Justice: passion, commitment and sacrifice'
24 February 2023
Today at the Court of Pistoia was held the press conference on the Petrocchi/Berlinghieri Art Contest 2022/2023, organised by the Court of Pistoia, the National Association of Magistrates, Pistoia subsection, and the Lawyers' Group at the Library of the Court of Pistoia, in collaboration with Florence Biennale.
It is an art competition inspired by the theme 'Living for Justice: Passion, Commitment and Sacrifice' and has, as a concept, having dedicated one's existence to the ideal of administering and/or serving the ideal of Justice, from the perspective of those who have become victims in various ways and accepted the risk of losing their lives.
The competition involves the fourth and fifth classes of the Liceo artistico P. Petrocchi of Pistoia (including the Quarrata section), address Figurative Arts and Graphic Arts and G. Sismondi - A. Pacinotti - Liceo artistico B. Berlinghieri of Pescia, address Figurative Arts and Graphic Arts. The students will have to propose figurative works to be executed using any technique in the field of painting, graphics, sculpture or photography, and must be able to represent the conceptual ideal of the pursuit of justice, from the point of view of those who have fallen victim to it, while avoiding any personalisation: not an easy but very stimulating challenge.
The jury, composed of a representative of each promoting body and an experienced and authoritative professor/artist, will select five winners who will receive as their prize the repayment of the enrolment fees to University, Academy of Fine Arts, Masters, DAMS or specialisation schools, amounting to € 1,500 each. The prizes are offered by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia, a partner in the project.
The deadline for submitting entries is 30 April 2023. Those that pass an initial pre-selection will be exhibited in the Atrium of the Palazzo Pretorio in Pistoia from 23 May 2023 to 3 June 2023, while the names of the winners will be revealed on 5 June 2023. The awarding of the winners will take place during an event to be held by 30 June 2023, which will be suitably publicised. The winning works will also be exhibited at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, during the 14th Florence Biennale from 14 to 22 October 2023.
The Contest participation rules will be published on the www.tribunale.pistoia.giustizia.it website, while any information on the Contest can be asked to the Court by writing to tribunale.pistoia@giustizia.it.
