Balance between expressive power and poetic sensitivity

Mario Pachioli has been recognised for his ability to combine monumental scale, emotional sensitivity, and refined figurative technique. A graduate from the State Art Institute of Vasto and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, he participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions over his career, both in Italy and abroad. His works are held in major museums in Krakow, Warsaw, Cancun, Stia, Arezzo, and at the Bargello in Florence. Among his most notable works are the 15 panels “The Mysteries of the Rosary”, the monument to St. Pio of Pietrelcina inaugurated by Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the Monument to Saint Mary of the Assumption, the sculpture Greta Garbo on the centenary of her birth, the commemorative medallion of Enrico Caruso, and numerous papal medals.

Critics have consistently recognized Pachioli’s rare balance between expressive power and poetic sensitivity. Antonio Berti, his teacher, recalled him as “an authentic artist, confident and determined in what he seeks to achieve[...] He can sculpt a portrait effortlessly and, even in grand compositions, infuse remarkable expressiveness into his figures[...]the seed I saw sprout grew strong roots and flourished abundantly”.
