The Names of the Winning Artists 2015
The tenth edition of the contemporary art fair at the Fortezza da Basso has came to an end, with over 10 thousand visitors. The satisfaction of the organisers.
With the award ceremony for the winning artists in the various categories, the tenth edition of the Florence Biennale - International Exhibition of Contemporary Art closes. The more than 1300 works on display, created by the 423 artists who came from 62 countries, were admired, discussed, commented on by about 10 thousand visitors who accepted the organisation's invitation. There was much applause for the artists awarded ‘lifetime achievement’ prizes (Marta Minujìn, Mario Carbone and Giampaolo Talani), just as the real star of this edition of the exhibition was the young Iranian artist (but transplanted to California) Morehshin Allahyari, who presented a resin copy of one of the works destroyed by the blind iconoclastic fury of ISIS, catalysing the attention of visitors and the media on her work.
After the evaluation process, the jury - composed of Elza Ajzenberg, Dominique Baechler, R. B. Bhaskaran, Francesco Buranelli, Pasquale Celona, Gregorio Luke, Maty Roca, Naoki Dan, Huang Du, Karen Lang and Enrico Vergnano - decided to award the ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ International Prize to:
