Founded in 2014, the World Association of Visual Arts (WAVA) is an independent, non-profit organisation created by artists and professionals in art and culture to promote, nurture, and preserve the visual arts as an essential part of the world's movable cultural heritage. WAVA fosters global collaboration by connecting individuals, organisations, and institutions active in the field of visual arts — including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video art, comics, and more.
Its goals include supporting young talents through summer schools, workshops, and non-formal education, facilitating mobility programmes and regional collaboration, organising international conferences, and offering professional counselling, particularly in copyright protection.
WAVA also grants awards and recognitions in partnership with cultural institutions and events worldwide. At the XV Florence Biennale, WAVA will confer the Excellence in Art Award to the best art on display, underscoring its mission to promote artistic innovation, merit, and global exchange.
