The Second Chapter of “Art Suite”: “Viktoria Andreeva. All We Have Is Now”
Florence Biennale is glad to continue the Art Suite project with Anglo American Hotel Florence – Curio Collection by Hilton, presenting the personal exhibition Viktoria Andreeva. All We Have Is Now. The exhibition is open to the public from 17 October to 14 November, with an exclusive preview on October 16 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM, by invitation only, in the presence of the artist.
All We Have Is Now: From 2023 to Today
The bond between Florence Biennale and Bulgarian fine art photographer Viktoria Andreeva dates back to 2023, when she was distinguished in the International Open Call Competition “I AM YOU” – Photography and received the Special “Lorenzo il Magnifico” Award at the XIV Florence Biennale, where she took part as Guest of Honour. Her work All We Have Is Now was also chosen as the visual identity of that edition, becoming one of the event’s most recognisable images. Three years later, as Florence Biennale approaches its 30th anniversary, to be celebrated in 2027, that same work gives its title to this new exhibition, forming an ideal bridge between memory and the present.
The exhibition takes shape around this work, bringing together ten pieces: five physical works — three from the Cosmic Beings series, along with Memories of the Past and All We Have Is Now, and five more presented in digital format. Moving between material presence and the digital dimension, the show expands the experience of seeing and opens up a new level of perception, in dialogue between body, image and space.
When the Body Becomes Sculpture
A former ballerina, Andreeva places the human body at the centre of her photographic practice, gradually drawing it away from portraiture and turning it into form, tension and presence. The textures that run through it are not applied before the shot but built up gradually, layer by layer, through a slow, controlled process. Distortion and depersonalisation move the subject away from their individuality, into a state suspended between presence and abstraction.
Viktoria Andreeva: An International Journey
Born and raised in Bulgaria, Viktoria Andreeva lives and works in Vienna, where she moved in 2015 to study Photography and Audiovisual Media at the College of Arts “die Graphische”. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous international awards, including a Gold Medal in the Fine Art/Nudes category at the Trierenberg Super Circuit and, in 2022, a Gold Medal at the One Eyeland World’s Top 10 Fine Art Photographers Awards. Her work has been exhibited in Vienna, Paris, New York, Rome, Milan, Budapest, and other cities around the world. In 2023, she was also selected by Forbes Bulgaria for its 30 Under 30.
Preview and Project Partners
The preview on 16 October will be accompanied by a welcome reception featuring dishes from the Anglo American Hotel Florence, artisanal specialities by Leonardo Biscotti and an exclusive Decio Gin cocktail inspired by the exhibition. The initiative is made possible with the support of The Mall Firenze and the participation of Pineider as Luxury Partner.
