Small Wonders, Piccole Meraviglie II ed.
A challenge in colour, but above all in small format. Artists from all over the world will confront each other at SMALL WONDERS, the exhibition entirely dedicated to works of art in small sizes. The initiative, now in its second edition, is scheduled from 13 September - inauguration at 5.30 p.m. - to 11 October at LINEA Spazio Arte Contemporanea (Via delle Porte Nuove 10, Florence).
Small format, big heart: part of the proceeds of the event will be donated to the Telethon Foundation, which has been funding research into genetic diseases for years.
Space is given to the artists' creativity: all techniques, all materials and all styles are allowed in the competition, as long as the dimensions are small, the sum of the sides of each work cannot exceed 60 cm (e.g. 30×30, 20×40, 10×50).
The award ceremony for the SMALL WONDERS winners will be held at the opening of the exhibition. The first place winner will participate in the 10th edition of the Florence Biennale - to be held from 17 to 25 October 2015 at the Fortezza da Basso -, but there will also be two other places on the podium, 2nd and 3rd place, and a special mention Telethon.
A jury composed of eminent personalities such as Pasquale Celona, President of the Florence Biennale; Rolando Bellini, Artistic Director of LINEA; Roberto Messina journalist of Class MF; Fulvio Orsitto, Director of the California State University in Florence and Luca Battocchio of the Telethon Foundation.
In addition, on the occasion of the National Day of Contemporary Art, scheduled for 11 October, LINEA will host the conference ‘Economics of Contemporary Art’, which is part of the cycle of meetings ‘Contemporary Perspectives’, an initiative organised by the Florence Biennale with the ‘Per Boboli’ Association.
The initiative is organised by LINEA with the collaboration of the Florence Biennale, Fausto Lupetti Editore (which will produce the official exhibition catalogue) and the Telethon Foundation.
