How a young artist fights for eco-sustainability. A promising Italian swimmer who dreams of becoming Botticelli
Lorenzo Zazzeri is a young swimmer in the Italian national team who devotes his spare time to painting. It is not easy for him to reconcile his two passions, but this does not discourage him and he faces everyday life with energy and determination. He alternates between moments when he trains and others when he devotes himself to art. In addition, he is a student of Exercise Science and in the moments when he is free from sports commitments and various projects he also tries to pass exams.
His talent led him to be selected to participate in the Florence Biennale (October 2017), a contemporary art exhibition in Florence, where he decided to present his work ‘Bon Apétit’. This occasion is an important opportunity for him to confront himself with other artists and to listen to any criticism that pushes him to improve.
‘Bon Apétit’ is a work of denunciation aimed at engaging and raising the viewer's awareness of an often underestimated issue: eco-sustainability. It is an invitation to draw our attention to an agonising planet! The painting depicts a child representing future generations and an adult hand with a ring that is the allegory of power.
The child is made to eat a plastic bottle, symbolising that if we underestimate the issue, our future generations will eat plastic.
The technique used is pastel on MDF (Medium-density fibreboard) wood, which is peculiar and uncommon, in fact oil is usually used as it is a less complex material, more classical and more precise thanks to the use of brushes. Different is the pastel where the painter is forced to use his fingers to do the entire painting.
When asked if there is an artist or style he respects or appreciates, Lorenzo replied that he takes his cue from 14th and 15th century artists such as Giotto, Michelangelo, Caravaggio and many others. He also appreciates contemporary artists from whom he draws inspiration such as Diego Koi and Rubén Belloso Adorna.
And if there are roses...
Lorenzo Zazzeri is a young Florentine artist born in ‘94 who began his artistic career drawing the covers of Disney video cassettes. He graduated from the Liceo Artistico Alberti in Florence, driven by the many encouragements he had previously received. During his high school studies, he grew artistically, learning new techniques of pictorial expression.
After high school, he continued as a self-taught artist, following videos on YouTube and artists on Instagram and Facebook. This led him to open his @zazzArt page on both Facebook ( zazzArt_facebook) and Instagram ( zazzArt_instagram).
