The exhibition project highlights the tangible outcomes of the Degree Course in Engineering for Industrial Design at the University of Pisa. The students, working through a design methodology enriched by engineering expertise, have developed twelve collections made from marble and other materials – both natural and synthetic, complementary and contrasting – adopting an experimental and research-driven approach to structural behaviours and the responses of raw matter to various treatments.
The Association Le Donne del Marmo provided technical expertise, materials, and both artisanal and digital processes to produce the works on display, with the aim of fostering the essential collaborations that underpin design culture – a dream made reality also thanks to subsequent serial production, carried out by La Casa di Pietra.
