We mourn the loss of Oliviero Toscani (1942-2025), whom we had the honour of hosting during the XIII Florence Biennale 2021, when he received the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” Lifetime Achievement Award for Art.
A world-famous photographer who created revolutionary advertising campaigns, Oliviero Toscani exhibited a selection from his “Razza Umana” project at the XIII Florence Biennale: a photographic, socio-political, aesthetic, cultural, and anthropological research project exploring the soul, morphologies, expressions, physical, somatic, social and cultural characteristics of humanity.
During the XIII Florence Biennale, Toscani also gave a speech about his career and participated in a round-table discussion together with Michelangelo Pistoletto and Vivienne Westwood, other Lifetime Achievement Award winners of that edition.
