Artimino Contemporanea by Florence Biennale
The Artimino Contemporanea by Florence Biennale project intends to re-propose, in an environment rich in artistic and gastronomic humus, the ideas of the illustrious patrons who in past centuries helped to develop a prosperous environment of artists and scholars around them. This favoured the cultural growth of the place where they resided, consigning it to history.
For us, this represents the starting point from which to realise this new project. We do not want to look to the past to identify ourselves through obvious artistic references, but rather to draw inspiration from it with the intention of bringing some of the most important contemporary artists on the national and international scene to the ‘court’ of Artimino.
The Project
With Artimino Contemporanea we plan to realise over the next few years, starting in 2015, a series of exhibitions and artistic and cultural events aimed at giving life to a place through the diffusion of contemporary art and culture.
Already famous for its beautiful landscape and food and wine, the village and villa of Artimino represent the ideal place for a model of intervention that combines the historical past of our places with modern-day culture and art.
The artists are invited to exhibit and present their works to the public in the evocative setting of the salons of Villa La Ferdinanda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2013. The artists who will take part are chosen from among the most important on the contemporary art scene, both national and international, with particular attention to those working in Tuscany. The latter, in fact, are called upon to bear witness to the cultural richness of our region and of the territory that has been the birthplace of some of the greatest artists of past centuries, creating an ideal link between past and present.
