ACCADEMIA DELLE ARTI DEL DISEGNO—XV Florence Biennale WINNER'S EXHIBITION AT THE ACCADEMIA DELLE ARTI DEL DISEGNO
Winning artworks of the XV Florence Biennale will have the opportunity to be exhibited in Florence at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in January 2026
The collaboration, launched in 2021, between the Florence Biennale and the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno – the world’s oldest art academy – represents an important milestone in the promotion of contemporary visual arts and design. This synergy, renewed with continuity, offers artists and designers who excel in the various categories of the “Lorenzo il Magnifi co” Award (for art) and the “Leonardo da Vinci” Award (for design), assigned by the Florence Biennale’s International Jury, the opportunity to exhibit their works in a venue of exceptional prestige.
In continuity with the two previous editions, on the occasion of the XV Florence Biennale the first-prize winners in the various disciplines – from drawing to painting, sculpture to photography, digital art to video art, and design – will be featured in an exhibition scheduled for January 2026 in the Sala delle Esposizioni of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, overlooking Piazza San Marco and part of the architectural complex of the Accademia di Belle Arti.
Founded in 1563 by Giorgio Vasari and Cosimo I de’ Medici, the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno traces its origins to the Compagnia di San Luca, established in 1339 and frequented by some of the most infl uential fi gures in the history of art, including Lorenzo Ghiberti, Donatello, Benozzo Gozzoli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo Buonarroti. Exhibiting in this context thus means becoming part of a tradition spanning six centuries of art history, establishing a dialogue between today’s protagonists and the great masters of the past. For the awarded artists and designers, it represents a recognition that unites contemporary achievement with the continuity of a tradition that has made Florence the cradle of the arts. Underscoring the signifi cance of the event, the exhibition catalogue will be included among the offi cial publications of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, becoming a permanent record of this experience and securing for the winners a place in the historical memory of one of the world’s most prestigious.
