New Members of the International Jury

The march towards the 10th edition of the Florence Biennale 2015 continues.

The names of the four new juries were announced - Naoki Dan, Huang Du, Karen Lang and Enrico Vergnano - who will join the other eight members of the international jury called upon to assess the works on show and award the ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ international prize: Elza Ajzenberg, Dominique E. Baechler, R. B. Bhaskaran, Francesco Buranelli, Pasquale Celona, Gregorio Luke, Gerfried Stocker and Maty Roca.

Elza Ajzenberg
Former director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo MAC-USP (2002-2005), today she is coordinator of the Mario Schenberg Centre for Documentation of Research in Arts at the University of São Paulo - São Paulo

 

Dominique E. Baechler
Professor of Aesthetics and Art History at Fundação Sociologia e Ciencia Politica, Museology Course, of the City of São Paulo, Art Critic - Paris / São Paulo

 

R. B. Bhaskaran
Former Director of the Lalit Kala Akademi Government of India founded by the Ministry of Culture. Director of the College of Arts, Chennai India, Painter and Engraver - New Delhi

 

Francesco Buranelli
Former Director of the Restoration Laboratories of the Vatican Museums. Secretary General of the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church - Rome

 

Pasquale Celona
Founder of the Florence Biennale and creator of the ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ International Prize. Artist himself serves as President of the Biennale and International Jury - Florence

 

Naoki Dan
Professor Emeritus of Medieval Art History at the University of Gunma, Japan. A leading expert on Donatello and Tino di Camaino, he is involved in international projects aimed at reinterpreting traditional cultural heritage on the contemporary art scene - Japan

 

Huang Du
Independent curator and art critic. Author of numerous essays and articles published in international art magazines. Co-curator of the Chinese Pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennale and curator of the 26th São Paulo Biennale - Beijing

 

Gregorio Luke
Former director of the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach California, art critic, curator and expert on Latin American art, has curated more than a thousand lectures on Mexican art in museums and universities in the USA, Europe and Mexico - Los Angeles

 

Karen Lang
Associate Professor at the University of Warwick and member of the Centre for Research in Philosophy, Literature and The Arts. Former editorial director of ‘The Art Bulletin’, an art journal devoted to the dissemination of scholarly contributions - United Kingdom

 

Maty Roca
Art historian, critic, museographer and cultural promoter. Member of the International Association of Art Critics, the Federation of Women in Universities and the Society of Art Treasures of Mexico - Cancun

 

Gerfried Stocker
Artistic Director of the Ars Electronica Festival and Managing Director of the Ars Electronica Center - Linz

 

Enrico Vergnano
Professor at the European Institute of Design, he has 20 years of experience as director of the design department in his family's textile company and in international joint ventures. He conducts research and coordinates the work of textile designers and artists on materials and techniques for yarns and technical textiles - Turin
