International Design Jury 2019

XIIth Edition

The International Jury is composed by outstanding personalities in the world of design. The Jury examines the artworks on display and decides about the “Leonardo da Vinci” award conferral for each category.


Perla Gianni Falvo

Exhibition designer and researcher. She is a member of the Editorial Board of Studies in Digital Heritage, Indiana University, member of the ADI Steering Council, Associazione per il Disegno Industriale and President of ADI Tuscany Delegation, as well as a member of IDEA (Italian Association of Exhibition Designers), BEDA (Bureau of European Designer Associations), and WDO (World Design Organization). Founding partner of Studi Uniti-Firenze and she is also a founding partner of Art Perception International – Italy


Francesco Fumelli


Angelika Nollert

She has been director of Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum in Munich since 2014. After her curatorial assistance at Skulptur.Projekte in Münster (1997), she became curator of the Portikus in Frankfurt am Main (1997-2000). She was project manager of Documenta 11 in Kassel in 2001/2002 and project manager in the visual arts department of Siemens Arts Program from 2002-2007. From 2007-2014 she was director of the Neues Museum for Art and Design in Nuremberg – Germany


Deniz Ova

Director of Istanbul Design Biennial at Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), since 2013. Ova started to work at İKSV in 2007 as the project leader for the International Projects department, where she developed and organised the festivals and events of the foundation in different European cities. Besides the festivals, she has been coordinating the Pavilion of Turkey at the International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia, the artist residency studio “Turquie” at Cité Internationale des Arts, and recently managed the participation of Turkey in the London Design Biennial – Turkey


Alexandra Sankova

Director and a founder of the Moscow Design Museum, which was established in 2012 with the mission to collect, preserve, and promote the design heritage of Russia. The exhibitions she co-curated at the museum include Soviet Design 1950–1980 (2017), Packaging Design. Made in Russia (2013), and Discovering Utopia: Lost Archives of Soviet Design (2016), which received the Utopia Medal at the London Design Biennale 2016. She founded the non-profit organisation New Graphics and was Senior Advisor for Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Moscow – Russia


Regina Schrecker

Regina Schrecker is a world-renowned fashion designer and costume designer, formerly “Lady Universe” and muse of the great Pop Artist Andy Warhol. Her successful career includes important artistic collaborations, such as the one with Arnaldo Pomodoro. In the 90s, she focused on emerging markets: Regina Schrecker was one of the first brands to bring the message of Italian fashion to countries like Russia, Japan and China. Regina Schrecker has also created, with impeccable mastery, theatrical costumes for important works, including: “Madama Butterfly”, “Snow White” and “Rigoletto”. She received numerous awards and acknowledgements and recently, she has continued to ring a thrilling series of successes, including the exhibition “Once Upon a Time – Le spose di Regina Schrecker alla Corte dei Gonzaga” (The Brides of Regina Schrecker at the Court of the Gonzagas), at the Palazzo Ducale of Mantua (2017), and the participation as Guest of Honour at the XI Florence Biennale (Florence, Fortezza da Basso, 2017) – Italy/Germany


Hunter Tura

Hunter Tura is President and Chief Executive Officer of Bruce Mau Design (BMD) with offices in London, New York and Toronto. Over the course of the past two decades, he has worked with business, culture and design leaders from organizations such as Netflix, Audi, Asics, Allstate, Changi Airport Group, Samsung, GE, Unilever, Sonos, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing. He serves as on the Design Council for IE Business School in Madrid and was previously an External Advisor and Guest Lecturer at Designskolen Kolding in Denmark. He has served on the design faculty of the University of California, Columbia University. Tura was the curator of the Canada Pavilion during the 2018 London Design Biennale and a member of the Presidential Design Awards Jury in Singapore in 2017 – Canada

Enrico Vergnano

Enrico Vergnano

Professor at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) and over twenty years of experience as Head of the Design Department in a textile manufacture and in internationaljoint ventures. Carries out extensive research and coordinates the work of textile artists and designers on fiber materials and techniques – Italy


Wu Haiyan

As a professor and doctorial tutor, Ms. Wu Haiyan is the dean of the School of Design Art, China Academy of Art, a member of the 7th discipline appraisal group of the Academic DegreesCommittee, the State Council, vice chairman of China Fashion Association, chairman of Zhejiang Association of Creative Design and vice president of Zhejiang Association of Science and Technology Workers. As a well-known designer and a famous teacher, Ms. Wu always pursues for activating the present life in Chinese traditional culture in design education from a unique angle and perspective – China
