In a territory rich in artistic and gastronomic humus, the project Artimino Contemporanea (Contemporary Artimino) by Florence Biennale aims to revive the idea of illustrious patrons, who in the past centuries have contributed to the development of a prosperous environment of artists and erudition. This has encouraged the cultural growth of the place in which the patrons resided contributing to its historical continuum.
For us this is the starting point from which this new project was realized. We do not want to look to the past to identify ourselves through obvious artistic references, but rather find inspiration, with the intent of bringing some of the most important contemporary artists of the national and international scenes to the “court” of Artimino.
Beginning with Artimino Contemporanea in 2015, we expect to realize a series of exhibitions and artistic/cultural events that give life to a place for the dissemination of art and contemporary culture in the coming years.
Already famous for its beautiful landscapes, food, and wine, the village and the villa of Artimino are an ideal place for projects such as “Artimino Contemporanea” that combines the historic past of our location with the culture and art of our time.
Artists are invited to exhibit and present their works to the public in a setting full of evocative charm, in the halls of Villa La Ferdinanda, which was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in June 2013.
The artists who will intervene, shall be chosen from among the most important in contemporary art scene, nationally and internationally, with particular attention to those who operate in Tuscany. These last few, in fact, are called to testify to the cultural richness of our region and territory, which gave birth to some of the greatest artists of the last centuries, creating a perfect linear connection between past and present.
