Lifetime Achievement Award "Lorenzo il Magnifico"
 The Florence Biennale this year will assign the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award "Lorenzo il Magnifico" to notorious artist Jeff Koons. Koons has created a personal iconography as a result of blending the concerns of Pop Art, Conceptual Art, Appropriation in Art with craftsman art and popular culture.
An Extraordinary manipulator of modern media, Koons has artists and craftsmen working in his studio to make his artworks, a contemporary renaissance atelier, underlining this way his belief that the artist's hand it's not important, for Art is only communication, the more archetypical it is the more communicative it becomes. Koons has always been a provocative artist that has questioned the traditional cliché in art, often distorting it's aesthetic values through the dramatic scale changes in his objects. It could be said that Koons has brought Kitsch into the classic art level.
He is known for his public sculptures, among those we mention "Jeff Koons: Versailles" in the French historical Palace in 2008 with his piece Split-Rocker, where for the first time, Versailles opened it's doors to a living artist and then the sculpture "Puppy" exhibited in the Rockefeller Center and then in the permanent Collection in the Bilbao Guggenheim.
Koons will be present in the Florence Biennale (Fortezza da Basso in Florence 3 to 11 December 2011) with a few artworks. The city of Florence together with the Florence Biennale are organizing his participation and several events around the visit of the well known artist Jeff Koons.
The Florence Biennale reminds all artists who were selected by the International Scientific Committee and that have received a favourable opinion for their participation in the eighth edition of the event, that there is still time to confirm their participation.
Also those who have already been selected to participate in previous editions, or who have already participated in the Florence Biennale can apply for participation in the Biennale 2011.
The artists, whose works has not yet been submitted for evaluation by the Scientific Committee and the Internal Committee are invited to send a few photographs of their art works and a complete biography, to be able to participate in the selection and thus participate in the Biennale 2011.
La Biennale di Firenze ricorda a tutti i gli Artisti che sono stati selezionati dal Comitato Scientifico Internazionale e che hanno ricevuto parere favorevole per la propria partecipazione all'VIII Edizione della manifestazione, che sono ancora in tempo per dare conferma della propria partecipazione.
Inoltre, coloro che sono già stati selezionati per partecipare nelle precedenti edizioni o che hanno già partecipato ad una Biennale di Firenze, possono richiedere di partecipare alla Biennale 2011.
Gli Artisti, le cui opere non sono ancora state sottoposte al giudizio del Comitato Scientifico e del Comitato Interno, sono invitati ad inviare il materiale fotografico di alcune opere e una biografia, per poter concorrere alla selezione e così partecipare alla Biennale 2011.

La Bienal de Florencia recuerda a todos los artistas que fueron seleccionados por el Comité Científico Internacional y que recibieron una opinión favorable para su participación en la VIII Edición de la manifestación, que todavía existe la posibilidad de confirmar su participación.
De igual manera los artistas que ya han participado o han sido seleccionados para participar en las ediciones pasadas de la Bienal pueden solicitar información y documentos de participación.
Los artistas interesados en la Bienal de Florencia 2011 y que desean presentar su trabajo artístico ante el Comité Científico o ante el Comité Interno de selección pueden enviar por correo o por e-mail material fotográfico de su obra junto con una biografía.
