La Biennale 2005 in Austria
The international Biennale jury has chosen six Austrian artists from countless applications and invited them to Florence in December. The jury had chosen to invite these artists because they are a representative cross-section of Austria's young contemporary artists.
Ringstrassen-Galerien played host to a public art exhibition of works by the chosen artists. The shopping mall has gained renown as a venue for showcasing art in a public place with visitors to the Ringstrassen-Galerien finding themselves confronted by art for years in this shopping Mecca. Centre Manager Rudolf Richter had this to say about the latest project: "Over a six-month period we will be giving the Austrian Biennale artists an opportunity to showcase their work to visitors to the Ringstrassen-Galerien".
The six Austrian artists invited along to the Florence Biennale unveiled their work at a private viewing at the Ringstrassen-Galerien in Vienna on May 17th 2005. Chris Lohner, famous TV moderator, hosted the event. This exhibition, which is set for a four-week run, will showcase the different works produced by all six artists. The general public will get the chance to both discover and cast a critical eye over the work and artistic development of the Biennale participants as they each get their own exhibition lasting three weeks. The farewell is October 11th 2005. It is farewell to the artists as they head off to Florence with their work.
Original paintings by the artists taking part in the Florence Biennale will be unveiled before an audience of VIPs and the media gathered together to wish the artists luck for the Biennale. The Group Exhibition will run until October 31rst 2005 at the Ringstrassen-Galerien before it is packed up and sent off to Florence.
